Vasectomy

In a vasectomy, the tube that carries sperm from each testicle (vas deferens) is cut and sealed. Vasectomy is considered the most reliable method of prevention.

In the USA about 500.000 people get vasectomy annually. The vasectomy operation could be done under local or total anesthesia, and epidural procedure. Generally, in 80% of the patients, 3 months after the surgery, the sperm count is close to zero.

After 3 months, tests and sperm count is done, and in case of sperm mobility, the second vasectomy is performed.

Performing or getting a vasectomy is forbidden in Iran, for both the physician and the patient.
